Department of Anaesthesia
The Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine is an essential pillar of the institute and is committed to providing high-quality and comprehensive clinical care to patients while also contributing to the advancement of medical science through research. The Department is committed to providing high-skilled and safe anaesthesia services for a wide range of surgical specialties and subspecialties. The department is also well-equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern technology to provide advanced intensive care services to critically ill patients. In addition, the department is also running an interventional pain clinic successfully for a wide range of acute and chronic pain conditions.
Besides clinical services, the department is also actively involved in research and training programs. It conducts regular conferences, CME’s, workshops, seminars, and training sessions for medical students, residents, and practicing physicians to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of anaesthesia, critical care, and pain medicine. Teaching through Simulation is also practiced and encouraged by this department.

Mission:
The department regularly conducts a few workshops and CME under the following Title
TRACE-ICU (Training and Collaborative Education in Intensive Care Unit)
CCRS- Critical Care Refresher Symposium
MICCUS- Multi-organ Integrated Critical Care Sonography.
Basic Airway and Resuscitation Course (BARC)
We conduct workshops on Mechanical Ventilation, point-of-care ultrasound, hemodynamic monitoring and management, Regional Analgesia and Pain, etc.
The department currently have 30 ICU beds, 12 activated; 17 OTs, 5 major and 1 minor activated; 15 preoperative and 15 postoperative beds. Further, department also works on the special other departmental infrastructure area as NORA service; Bi=plane DSA, Cath lab, etc., are notable.

Clinical Services
The department provides clinical services for the perioperative care (preanaesthesia evaluation, optimization, anaesthesia, and post-anaesthesia care with acute pain services) for General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, PMR, and superspeciality surgical service like Neurosurgery, CTVS, Plastic and Burns, Urology, Pediatric surgery, Onco surgery, Head & Neck Cancer Surgery. Etc.,
Further, the department also provides clinical services for DSA, Cath lab, MRI, CT, Emergency in-door on-call, and soon starting the services for modifies ECT, Radiotherapy/Brachytherapy, Endoscopy. The department also provides services for bronchoscopy, BAL, etc., on request.
The department has chronic pain service for both OPD and interventions. We also provide 24X7 inpatient service in Critical Care Unit (Anaesthesiology), and on-call services for other ICUs of the institute.
The department is involved in teaching of MBBS, MD (Anaesthesiology and Critical Care), DM (Critical Care Medicine), DM (Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care). Further, the department id involved in the training of BSc nursing / paramedics, Residents, and Nursing officers.
We are starting Fellowship in Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine, Onco-anaesthesia and Trauma Anaesthesia and Acute Care from 2026. We are also planning to start BSc OT and ICU Technology.
